Informal Recruitment
Informal Recruitment
College is a time for students to gain independence, meet new people, and find that comfortable niche of friends and support. Sorority life can help with these goals, as well as aid academic and social development. Joining a sorority can make a big school seem smaller and more intimate and ensures a lifetime of memories with your sisters.
Welcome to Informal Recruitment!
Informal Recruitment is ONLY for upperclassmen and transfer students.
First years may only participate in Formal Recruitment. (Please click here to be
redirected to Formal Recruitment.)
Informal Recruitment takes place in the Fall and not all houses participate.
Participating houses will receive a list of women that have registered for
Informal and then can invite as many or as few women as they wish. There is no
structured daily process as there is in Formal Recruitment; houses are allowed
to choose activities they feel best fit their chapters, thus handling the process
as formally or informally as they wish. There is no obligation by either the
chapters or the women to offer/accept bids. Participating in Informal Recruitment,
but not joining a chapter, does not preclude a woman from participating in
Formal Recruitment in the Spring. Informal Recruitment is a continuation of the
Continuous Open Bidding (COB) process, so no fee is required.
For Informal Recruitment 2011, all contact will take place between
September 15th and October 2nd, with no contact on September 28th in
observance of Yom Kippur. Bid day will be on October 3rd.
Registration will open on Wednesday, August 25th and will close on Monday,
September 12th. Please click here to register!
