The Inter-Sorority Council would like to stress that you by no means need letters of recommendation to participate fully in formal recruitment. Each chapter deals with these letters on an individual basis and most chapters do not expect them. However, if you should choose to send letters to each of the chapters we request that you contact their VP Recruitment directly via mail to the chapter house.

Quick question about rec letters- can someone who is currently a member of a chapter (she is a senior) at a different school write me one or can only alumni?
A rec can be from a current member or an alumni actually, so that works!
We are from Texas, and the sororities require a lot of information, such as a social resume, a recommendation from the sponsor, letters of support, pictures, transcripts, and scores on the ACT or SAT.
What do y’all require? I have searched everywhere, but can’t seem to find the answer, except about the letters of recommendation.
Diana,
Thanks so much for contacting Virginia ISC. We manage our recruitment style a little different from Texas but don’t worry, you are in no way behind! Recs can be sent directly to the recruitment chairs at their personal chapters (their information and address can be found on the website under Chapters) as soon as you would like and since we have deferred recruitment at The University, registration will not open until the first day of school in Fall 2012. That is where you can put any social information and involvement for the formal recruitment database. We also will be using your grades from your first semester at school instead of high school grades so while transcripts can be used in recs, they are not included in registration.
Hope this helps! Please contact us if you have any other questions.
Sincerely,
Abby Decker
