Elections
Inter-Sorority Council elections will take place in December 2011 for the top four elected officers of the Board, followed by the selection process for the chair positions on the Executive Board.
The top four offices must submit a Letter of Intent to Alexis Tarbet. Elections will be held in November 2012, and the deadline for submitting a letter of intent will be announced in the upcoming fall semester. Please refer to the information below, in order to get more information on the responsibilities and prerequisites for each office, as well as chair applications. In addition, feel free to email the person listed as the contact for each office with any further questions. Applications for the chair positions are due in January.

President
Letter of Intent due in November 2011
Responsibilities:
The ISC President serves as an ambassador for the women of the Inter-Sorority Council to the University and greater Charlottesville Community. The ISC President is charged with maintaining relations with members of the other three Greek Governing Councils, and other University organizations. The ISC President is also the face of the ISC during summer orientation, thus will spend a large portion of the summer in Charlottesville preparing for the upcoming year.
On a day to day basis, the President of ISC oversees the Executive Board, running weekly Executive Board meetings. As a key member of the Executive Board you must aid other members in their endeavors. Additionally, the President facilitates interaction between the 16 ISC presidents at weekly meetings, acting as an advocate for their interests in the larger Greek community. The President is especially important as a liaison between the UVa administration and students. The ISC President must be an avid supporter of ISC sorority women and their interests.
Prerequisite Qualifications:
The ISC President must have served a term on the ISC Executive Board, as an ISC Chapter Representative, or as President of her respective chapter.

VP Judiciary
Letter of Intent due November 2011
Responsibilities:
As the Vice President of Judiciary, you are responsible for educating each sorority house on the ISC Bylaws, Standards of Conduct, Contact Policy, and Judiciary Bylaws. You are responsible for attending weekly Executive Council meetings and holding meetings with the Judicial Board, consisting of mediators from each house. As a member of the Executive Board, you are responsible for aiding other members of the ISC. In addition and perhaps most importantly, you are the one responsible for dealing with judicial complaints and organizing judicial hearings and mediations to deal with those complaints. This job involves dedication, confidentiality, and a willingness to help create a strong community among all Greek organizations and the 16 sororities in particular. The VP Judiciary also is required to serve on the ISC Recruitment Team.
Prerequisite Qualifications:
The VP of Judiciary must have served a term on the ISC Judicial Board or ISC Executive Board.

Letter of Intent due November 2011
Responsibilities:
The Vice President of Administration attends all Executive Board and holds weekly meetings with the Representative Body. You are responsible for taking minutes, and you record and enforce attendance. You must compile all contact information for the 16 sororities. Other ISC Executive Board members and the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life will ask you to take on additional projects. The VP Administration also is required to serve on the ISC Recruitment Team.
The Vice President of Administration also has the main responsibility of overseeing the inflow and outflow of the organization’s funds. Tasks of the VP Administration include setting the annual budget at the end of August, accounting for each committee’s expenses and reimbursements, writing and depositing checks, and collecting sorority dues. In addition, she must participate on the ISC Recruitment Team with patrolling and general assistance. Familiarity with Excel and previous experience with accounting and finance required. Attention to detail also recommended.
You must be responsible, organized, and efficient. The VP Administration should always be professional in correspondences and knowledgeable of ISC Bylaws and projects.

Responsibilities:
The Vice President of Recruitment is charged with overseeing all activities pertaining to Formal Recruitment. The VP Recruitment plans weekly Recruitment Team meetings, serving as a liaison between individual chapter Recruitment Chairs and the ISC. The VP Recruitment plans and executes Go Greek Night and other publicity campaigns related to ISC Recruitment. You are responsible for compiling Recruitment Materials, including a large and mini Recruitment booklet. You will act as a liaison between other University organizations, the Office of the Dean of Students, Resident Life, and the Inter-Sorority Council. You are responsible for creating and finalizing the schedule for both chapters and potential new members. During the week of Recruitment, you must patrol ISC chapter houses, work with the computer program, and be prepared to answer questions from PNMs, Recruitment Counselors, Chapter Recruitment Chairs, and parents.

Assistant Recruitment Chair

Responsibilities:
The Assistant Recruitment Chair is responsible for planning Informal Recruitment, as well as working with the Recruitment Team on Formal Recruitment. The work for Informal Recruitment includes advertising heavily to upper classmen and transfers, holding a mini Go Greek Night, organizing the participating chapters, and signing up all of the potential new members.
As Assistant Recruitment Chair, you are also heavily involved in the planning and execution of Formal Recruitment. You will attend all the meetings for the Recruitment Chairs throughout the year. You are also responsible for making a large pamphlet ready in time for summer orientation and a small pamphlet ready in time for Go Greek Night. Your responsibilities will also cover working with the Recruitment Team on all the other preparations for Recruitment. During the week of the Recruitment, you will be in the office answering all questions, patrolling, and working with the computer program.

Responsibilities:
The Recruitment Counselor Director is in charge of overseeing the selection of, training of, and Recruitment week activity for all Recruitment Counselors for ISC Formal Recruitment. The RC Director is the main contact person on the ISC for all Recruitment Counselors. Moreover, it is her responsibility to be ever available to all her RCs.
Additionally, the RC Director acts as an active member on the ISC Recruitment Team, meaning her role extends beyond that of just Recruitment Counselor management. If any Recruitment Counselor fails to do her duties, or is for some reason unable to fulfill her commitment, it is the RC Director’s responsibility to step in and be the Recruitment Counselor for those PNMs.

Responsibilities:
Women’s Concerns Chair is involved in the planning and executing of events geared toward the health and wellness of women. Part of this position entails working with other organizations such as NOW, AWAKE, and the Women’s Center to collaborate on University projects (Take Back the Night, Eating Disorders Awareness, etc).
The primary undertaking that is solely delegated to this position is planning an education program in the spring for all the women who just received bids and are entering the Greek community.

Public Relations Chair

Responsibilities:
ISC PR Chair is a position which works to promote ISC identity in the community and maintain an ISC presence in campus-wide events. The chair position is responsible for coordinating all of the publicity for ISC and the events it sponsors. This includes making flyers, talking to the Cavalier Daily, and helping all other positions with their specific publicity needs.
Prerequisite Qualifications:
Experience in building and maintaining blog sites, Twitter accounts, basic knowledge of html are preferred, but not required.

Community Service Chair

Responsibilities:
Every month, the service chairs organize projects, ranging from helping out at Martha Jefferson Assisted Living Home to clothing drives, which involve all 16 sorority houses. As a chair, your responsibilities are to contact service organizations and set up events for the houses to participate in, and then sign up girls to volunteer and be present at the events. Other duties include organizing blood drives and a fund raiser for the SARA, ISC’s philanthropy.

Responsibilities:
Inter-Greek Chair is a position that primarily involves serving on the Inter-Greek Committee and planning Greek Week and Greek Awards. Other responsibilities include Lighting of the Lawn receptions and Council social events. With this position, you have the opportunity to meet and network with others in all four Greek councils, as well as organize events that bring together all 16 sororities on grounds. These events are entirely up to your creativity and initiative. It is one of the most open and at the same time challenging positions because of its unlimited possibilities. Skills required include a knowledge of or willingness to learn about other Greek councils and an ability to work well with others, especially those with diverse backgrounds.

Scholarship Chair

Responsibilities:
The Scholarship Chair serves to promote academic excellence in the sorority community by providing reward incentives for strong academic achievements, facilitating relationships between sororities and faculty, and providing access to more academic-focused programs. The Scholarship Chair needs to work closely with the Scholarship Chairs from each sorority. As a rather new position, this requires creativity and drive in forming the foundation of the position’s role and establishing projects to continue in the future.
